Who we are

CL’s Smokin Barrels BBQ (“we,” “us”) is a barbecue food trailer and catering business serving Onslow County, North Carolina. You can reach us at clsmokinbarrels@gmail.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us

• Pre-orders: your name, phone number, email address, the items you order, your pickup details, any notes you add, and whether you asked for text updates.
• Catering quotes and trailer bookings: your name, phone number, email address, event date, location, guest count, menu choices and any details you share about your event.
• Email list: your email address, if you sign up for news about pop-ups and menus.
• Reviews: your name, star rating and comments. Reviews we approve may be shown on this website with the name you entered.
• Messages and calls: what you send us by email or text, and what you tell us when you call. Calls to our business line may be answered by an automated phone assistant and may be recorded and transcribed so we can take your order or request accurately.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Square. When you pay by card, digital wallet or another payment option Square offers, you enter your payment details into Square’s secure payment form or payment page. We never see or store your full card number. Square handles that information under its own privacy policy. We receive a record of the payment, such as the amount, the last four digits of the card and the payment status.

Information collected automatically

When you use this website we collect basic usage information: the pages you visit, the buttons you tap (for example, starting an order or getting directions), your device and browser type, the website or link that brought you here, and an approximate location (city or region). See “Analytics and session recording” below.

How we use your information

• To take, prepare and confirm your order, and to let you know when it is ready.
• To prepare catering quotes, proposals and invoices, and to plan your event.
• To take payments, issue refunds and keep business records.
• To answer your questions and messages.
• To send our email newsletter, if you signed up.
• To understand how the website is used so we can fix problems and improve it.
• To protect against fraud and misuse, and to meet our legal obligations.

Text messages (SMS)

If you check “Text me order updates” when you place an order, we will send text messages about that order to the phone number you gave us, such as an order confirmation and a message when your order is ready for pickup. We may also reply by text to messages you send us.

• Message frequency varies with your orders. Message and data rates may apply.
• Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts. Reply HELP for help, or email us at clsmokinbarrels@gmail.com.
• Agreeing to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase.
• Texts are sent through a text message delivery service that handles your phone number only to deliver our messages. We do not sell or share your phone number or text opt-in with anyone for their own marketing.

Email

We send order, catering and booking emails through an email delivery service. If you join our email list, we will send occasional news about pop-ups, menus and specials. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link and our mailing address, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Analytics and session recording

This website uses two outside measurement tools:

• Google Analytics counts page visits and tells us how people find the site, what device and browser they use, and their approximate location. Google receives your IP address to do this and sets its own cookies to recognize repeat visits.
• Microsoft Clarity records how visitors use our pages, including clicks, taps, scrolling and how the page looked, and lets us play back a visit to find what is broken or confusing. Your visit may be recorded. Clarity is set to hide what you type into form fields, and we mark other personal details on the page to be hidden too. Clarity does not run on order confirmation, order tracking, catering proposal or unsubscribe pages. Microsoft sets its own cookies and keeps recordings under its own policies.

We also keep our own simple record of key actions on the site (such as an order being started or submitted) along with the campaign link or website that sent you here. Your browser stores a few items for this site: your cart, so it is still there if you come back, and the link that first brought you here. These do not contain your name or payment details.

We do not use advertising or retargeting pixels, and we do not sell your information to advertisers.

How to turn analytics off

• Tracker-blocking browser settings and extensions block both Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. The website, including ordering, works normally with them blocked.
• Google offers a browser add-on that turns off Google Analytics: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
• Clearing this site’s cookies and storage in your browser removes the items above.

Who we share information with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with:

• Square, to process payments, invoices and refunds.
• Service providers that run the business for us: our website hosting provider, our database provider, an email delivery service, a text message delivery service and our phone answering service. They may use your information only to provide their services to us.
• Google and Microsoft, through the analytics tools described above.
• Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect our rights, our customers or the public.

How long we keep information

We keep order, catering and payment records as long as we need them to run the business and meet tax and accounting rules. You can ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep. Google and Microsoft keep analytics data under their own retention schedules.

How we protect information

Our staff tools are behind password-protected accounts, and information travels to and from this website over an encrypted connection. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.

Your choices

• Email us to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it.
• Reply STOP to any text to stop text messages.
• Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email to leave our email list.

Children

This website is meant for adults placing orders and booking events. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page.
